Key steps
- Build posture with both hands pinning their hips or belt to the mat.
- Slide one knee up under their tailbone, with the other leg out wide for base.
- Push down on one of their thighs, near the knee, to pry their ankles apart.
- Start your pass while their ankles are still opening, before they reset.
Key details
- Keeping your elbows inside their knees protects you from armbars and triangles as the guard opens.
- Leaning forward while you open gives them your posture and a chance to attack.
