D'Arce choke

Also called Brabo choke, Darce

An arm-in choke where your arm threads under their armpit first, then around the neck. It often shows up from front headlock or when they turtle.

Key steps

  1. Start your arm under their near armpit and keep it travelling until it wraps their throat.
  2. Lock that hand onto your opposite biceps.
  3. Let your free hand settle on the back of their head or upper back.
  4. Drop your hips low and squeeze your elbows together to finish.

Key details

  • Lock the grip only once your arm is through far enough that your upper arm sits against their neck.
  • Keep their trapped shoulder tight to their head.
  • Get an angle and use your weight; squeezing from square with a shallow arm mostly loads their shoulder.
