Key steps
- Defend the guillotine with your hands so the grip can't tighten.
- Pass their legs to the side that relieves the choke, ending perpendicular with your head and hips split across their body.
- Settle in side control, chest to chest, while they keep holding your neck.
- Wrap one arm under their head, trap their choking arm with the other, and clasp your hands.
- Drop your shoulder into the side of their neck and keep your hips low to finish.
Key details
- Feel which way the pressure eases before you pass; going the wrong way makes the guillotine worse.
- The choke only exists while their arm stays wrapped around your neck; once they release, it's gone.
- Stay heavy and low; lifting your chest gives them room to let go.
