Dogfight sweep

Also called Underhook sweep

A half guard sweep from the dogfight, where you're up on a knee beside them with the underhook. You drive into them and block their leg so they tip over.

Key steps

  1. Win the underhook from half guard and come up on your near knee beside them.
  2. Keep your head tight to their body so they can't crossface you.
  3. Post your outside foot and keep their trapped leg between your legs.
  4. Block their near knee or ankle with your free hand so they can't post it.
  5. Drive forward off your posted foot and settle on top as they fall.

Key details

  • Let your head sink and their whizzer can push you flat again.
  • If they sprawl their hips back, the same position opens a single leg or the back take.
