Guillotine sweep

A butterfly guard sweep done with a guillotine grip in place. One hook lifts their leg to tip them over, and the choke stays on the whole way to the top.

Key steps

  1. Lock a guillotine from butterfly or open guard with their head tight to your chest.
  2. Slide a butterfly hook inside one of their thighs while you keep the grip.
  3. Fall to your side and pull their head and weight onto the hook.
  4. Lift the hook to roll them over, keeping your grip locked through the turn.
  5. Settle into mount or side control and finish the choke from there.

Key details

  • A loose wrap during the roll lets their head slip out, so keep the grip tight.
  • It works best when they lean into you to take pressure off their neck.
