Kimura defense

Stop the kimura by anchoring the trapped hand to something on your own body, like your belt or thigh, so the arm can't be turned behind you.

Key steps

  1. Clamp the trapped hand onto your belt, pants or thigh.
  2. Keep your elbow tight to your ribs.
  3. Keep your body close to theirs so they don't have space to turn the arm.
  4. Pull the arm back to your body once their grip loosens.

Key details

  • A loose hand on the belt is easy to peel off, so grip it firmly.
  • Don't straighten the arm to escape; that can open an armbar.
