Key steps

  1. Pin their legs to one side with your knee and hands, chest heavy on their hip.
  2. Post your weight on their hips through your hands or chest, hips high.
  3. Step your outside leg far back and around past their feet in one big step.
  4. Free your other leg as your hips turn, then drop into side control.

Key details

  • Taking a long step keeps your foot clear of their legs; a short step gets caught again.
  • Keeping your weight on their hips through the step stops them from turning in under you.
