Sliding collar choke
Also called Okuri eri jime
A Gi choke from the back that uses their own lapels. A deep collar grip crosses the neck, and a lapel grip on the other side pulls the slack out until it closes.

Key steps
- Control their back with hooks or a seat belt grip.
- Feed your top hand under their chin and into the far collar, thumb inside, sinking the grip as deep as you can.
- With your other hand, take hold of the other lapel down near their chest.
- Pull the collar grip back toward you and the lapel grip toward their hip together, so the cloth tightens from both ends.
Key details
- Pull the slack out of the lapel before you start the choke.
- Keep your head beside theirs so they can't turn in to you.
- Pass your forearm under the chin, not over the jaw.
