Flower sweep

Also called Pendulum sweep

A closed guard sweep that uses a leg swing for momentum. You trap one arm, scoop their leg on the opposite side, and use a big swing of your leg to roll them over.

Key steps

  1. Control one of their sleeves or wrists and pull that arm across your chest.
  2. Open your guard and hook your free arm under their leg on the other side.
  3. Swing one leg out wide and down toward the mat for momentum.
  4. Drive your other leg into their side while you lift the hooked leg.
  5. Roll them toward the trapped arm and follow them over into mount.

Key details

  • Pull the trapped arm across your body, because a free arm posts and stops the roll.
  • The swing only adds momentum when the lift happens at the same moment.
