Key steps

  1. Grip sleeve and collar and move in tight, chest to chest.
  2. Press them backward and a little to one side until they stand on their heels.
  3. Bring your leg in between theirs and catch the back of one leg, at or below the knee, with your lower leg.
  4. Carry the caught leg out to the side in a big semicircle, staying glued to their chest so they tip backward.
  5. Stay balanced and travel down with them until their back reaches the mat.

Key details

  • Most of the force comes from your hips and chest moving forward; a leg working alone gives them time to skip out of it.
  • Hold your posture upright through the finish so you don't pitch forward onto them as they land.
