Key steps
- Grip sleeve and collar, or take an underhook in No-Gi, and pull them close.
- Step your support foot in deep, beside the foot of the leg you'll reap.
- Drive your chest into theirs and push them back so their weight sits on that heel.
- Swing your reaping leg past theirs, then sweep it back hard through the back of their thigh.
- Keep your grips as they fall so they land on their back and you stay on your feet.
Key details
- Breaking their balance first is what makes the reap work; reaping a light leg just kicks it.
- Keeping your chest tight to theirs puts your weight behind the throw instead of beside it.
- Holding the sleeve as they land helps them break their fall and keeps you in control.
