Key steps

  1. Grip both sleeves, or sleeve and lapel, and pull them forward as they push in.
  2. Sit down close to their feet and place one foot on their belt line.
  3. Pull with your arms as you roll back, keeping your foot planted on them.
  4. Straighten your leg to lift them over your head and onto the mat behind you.
  5. Keep your grips and roll after them to come up on top as they land.

Key details

  • Sitting down close to their feet gets your hips under them; sitting far away turns it into a guard pull.
  • Pulling until their weight is over your foot gives your leg something to lift.
