Key steps

  1. Tie up their head with one hand and grip their wrist or elbow with the other.
  2. Pull their head down sharply toward the mat as you step back.
  3. Drop your hips back and keep your chest heavy over their head and shoulders.
  4. Settle into a front headlock or circle behind them once their hands hit the mat.

Key details

  • Time it for when they push into you; against someone standing tall it rarely lands.
  • Your step back puts body weight behind the pull and takes your legs out of reach of their shot.
  • A heavy chest on their head stops them from coming back up to their feet.
