Back to mount

Move from back control to mount when they escape their shoulders to the mat. You follow the turn and come up on top before they can face you.

Key steps

  1. Keep your top leg hooked over their hips as their back reaches the mat.
  2. Pull your bottom leg out from under them as soon as their back is flat.
  3. Come up on top, driving your chest across theirs to keep them flat.
  4. Bring the freed knee up to their side and settle into mount.

Key details

  • Move as their back touches the mat, before they turn in to face you.
  • Keep the seat belt or a crossface while you come up so they stay flat.
